Credentialing and enrollment

Credentialing is invisible until it fails, and when it fails it stops your billing entirely. Almost all of that failure is calendar management that nobody owned.

Enrollment, start to finish

Applications to commercial and government payers are prepared, submitted and chased through to an effective date. Enrollment timelines are largely set by the payer, so the work is in submitting a complete application first time and following up persistently rather than in making a payer move faster than it moves.

CAQH kept current

CAQH ProView profiles require re-attestation on a rolling cycle, and an expired profile can stall credentialing decisions at every payer that pulls from it. Attestation dates, licence and malpractice expiries, and practice location changes are tracked rather than left to an email reminder someone will miss on holiday.

Revalidation before it bites

Medicare enrolment has to be revalidated on a cycle, and missing it can deactivate billing privileges. Revalidation dates are tracked on a calendar with lead time, alongside commercial re-credentialing cycles, so the work starts before the deadline rather than after a rejection.

Common questions

How long does credentialing take?
The payer sets the pace and ninety to a hundred and twenty days is common, sometimes longer. Anyone promising you a fixed turnaround is promising something they do not control.
Can you credential a new provider joining our practice?
Yes, and the earlier you start the better. Starting on a provider's first day means months of services that cannot be billed to their own name.
What happens if a revalidation is missed?
Billing privileges can be deactivated, which stops payment until it is resolved. Avoiding that is most of the value of tracking the calendar.
